“I wish everyone in Brooklyn and beyond a happy and meaningful Thanksgiving. This holiday is about so much more than parades, pigskin and pumpkin pies; it is a time to give thanks for what we have, as well as what we have to give. As we sit down to enjoy a hearty Thanksgiving dinner, let us be reminded that our soup kitchens and food pantries need special attention, with cupboards running bare while the demand for help increases. I hope every Brooklynite takes this opportunity to donate time, energy or resources to a neighbor in need. The joy of volunteerism, and the ability to share that with family, friends and community, is the true spirit of Thanksgiving.”
