“Last night, Brooklyn celebrates the Oscars won by three of its very own, including actress Lupita Nyong’o and the songwriting couple Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez.
“Lupita, a woman whose diversity reflects the borough she now calls home, dazzled movie audiences with a moving performance as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave. We are all excited to see the next pages to be written in the script of Hollywood’s latest ‘It’ girl.
“Kristen and Robert are a dynamic duo whose song “Let It Go”, from the animated film Frozen, has been a nationwide smash success. This talented Brooklyn family, which includes their two daughters Katie and Annie, is no stranger to accolades; in fact, Robert is now the youngest person to ever win an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.
“The Academy Awards recognizes the best on the silver screen, and Brooklyn is proud to be home to the best of the best. Our strong creative tradition and burgeoning film industry ensure that there will be plenty of golden statuettes in our future, as well as many artists that look to call our borough home.”
