“As the sun descends in the night sky, our Jewish sisters and brothers across Brooklyn and the world will usher in the festival of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year of 5781 — a year unlike any other. The blasts of the shofar are a clarion call to the conscience, beckoning the ancient tradition of self-reflection, whereby a personal inventory is taken in advance of these Jewish High Holy Days of Awe. As members of the Jewish faith reflect on their blessings, let us uplift those around us and endeavor to be the best versions of ourselves we can be. To my Jewish sisters and brothers, I extend wishes for a Shanah Tovah Umesukah — a Good and a Sweet New Year!”
