BROOKLYN, NY, May 14, 2014: Today, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams announced that he will launch his Lunchtime School Concert Series tomorrow from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM in Borough Hall Plaza, weather permitting. These free shows are staged at the end of the school year and provide an opportunity for Downtown Brooklyn residents, workers and visitors to enjoy the arts from young people across the borough.
“The Lunchtime School Concert Series highlights Borough Hall’s commitment to the arts, and particularly to arts education,” said Borough President Adams. “These young people that perform in the shadow of Borough Hall are on the beginning of a creative journey that may ultimately take them to BAM, the Bell House and beyond. Brooklyn is a better place when music is playing, dancers are moving and our youth are getting engaged in positive activities.”
Tomorrow’s performers include the concert string orchestra of IS 259 in Bay Ridge, under the leadership of music teacher Catherine Exarhoulias, the drum line of MS 534 in Bedford-Stuyvesant, under the leadership of principal Ativia Sandusky, and the step team of Brooklyn Collegiate School in Brownsville, under the leadership of instructor Horace Moore. Upcoming series dates, all taking place on Thursdays, include May 22nd, May 29th, June 12th and June 19th.
