BROOKLYN, NY, July 28, 2016: Yesterday, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams launched the 2016 edition of Dine In Brooklyn, the borough’s premiere restaurant week celebrating and promoting the local foodie culture, with tastings from a variety of participating restaurants in the rotunda of Brooklyn Borough Hall. Local eateries that took part in the preview expo inside Brooklyn Borough Hall included Barons, a New American restaurant in Bedford-Stuyvesant; Joloff Restaurant, which offers Senegalese fare in Bedford-Stuyvesant; Pazzi Pasta from Boerum Hill; Asya Indian Restaurant from Brooklyn Heights; Marco Polo Ristorante, an Italian restaurant in Carroll Gardens; Junior’s Restaurant, a popular diner in Downtown Brooklyn; Carnem Prime Steakhouse in Park Slope; Kombit, a Haitian establishment in Prospect Heights, and Barano, which serves Italian cuisine in Williamsburg. Dine In Brooklyn, held in partnership with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce with exclusive sponsorship from Visa and contributing support from Barclays Center, Brokelyn.com, BrooklynReporter.com, and Yelp, will start on Thursday, August 11th, continuing to Monday, August 22nd, with dozens of establishments offering three-course dinner menus at $28 per person, two-course lunch menus at $15 per person, and weekend brunch menus at $12 per person. Borough President Adams highlighted this upcoming borough-wide celebration of dining as an important way to enhance the contributions of Brooklyn’s restaurants to the local economy and culture.
“I’m proud to bring a revamped Dine In Brooklyn back this summer with a whole new feel for foodies from our borough and beyond,” said Borough President Adams. “This restaurant week is focused on a 21st century dining experience, reflecting the digital journey that diners are taking to find favorite dishes, both old and new. Anything we can do to boost the success of Brooklyn’s second-to-none food scene is a win for our small business community and the thousands of men and women that industry supports across the borough.”
Dine In Brooklyn will be promoted heavily online and in hard copy through dozens of media outlets across the borough and city, in addition to appearing on the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s digital BAM board as well as inside and outside Barclays Center. Promotions will feature the artwork of Jeffrey Rosenkrantz, a Pratt Institute-trained freelance graphic designer who lives in Park Slope and won Borough President Adams’ contest to design the new logo for Dine in Brooklyn, an honor that came with a $1,000 prize.
“Brooklyn has an iconic food scene that attracts people from across the city, state, country, and even the world,” said Carlo A. Scissura, president and CEO of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. “By bringing together dozens of amazing restaurants specializing in a variety of cuisines and styles in neighborhoods from Greenpoint to Coney Island, Dine In Brooklyn will showcase the very best that our borough has to offer and drive visitors to both our established and hidden culinary gems. The Brooklyn Chamber is proud to partner with Borough President Adams on this initiative, and I cannot wait to try as many restaurants as possible. Mangia!”
“Dine In Brooklyn is a great way to involve the community in both supporting and celebrating some of Brooklyn’s most prominent businesses — local restaurants,” said Ramon Martin, global head of merchant solutions for Visa Inc. “Visa is honored and delighted to support Brooklyn-based businesses through this annual event and the numerous other ways we can help businesses of any size grow.”
“As publishers of The Home Reporter, Brooklyn Spectator, BrooklynReporter.com, Brokelyn.com, and Best of Brooklyn, we are delighted to promote the restaurant industry with such an amazing program to drive business and awareness to the greatest selection of restaurants you can find anywhere,” said Joshua and Victoria Schneps, co-publishers of Brokelyn.com and BrooklynReporter.com.
“We’re so happy to be able to promote another fantastic year of Dine In Brooklyn,” said Peter DeNat, Brooklyn community director for Yelp. “There are so many incredible restaurants all over the borough, and we’re proud to be a part of something that is all about what Yelp does best, connecting people to great local businesses.”
