BROOKLYN, NY, July 27, 2016: Today, Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams invited Brooklynites to join him for upcoming free shows at the Seaside Summer Concert Series 2016 at Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk, as well as the 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series, the 34th season of weekly performances held at Wingate Park in East Flatbush. Hundreds of people enjoyed the launch of the 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series on Monday, July 18th with Old School Night featuring Big Daddy Kane, Roxanne Shante, and Kool Moe Dee, and the kickoff of the Seaside Summer Concert Series 2016 with performances by Billy Ocean and special guest Yuna on Thursday, July 21st. Borough President Adams, who serves as the host for both concert series, highlighted the value to his administration of affordable summer entertainment in Brooklyn; he has also sponsored free concerts in recent weeks at sites such as Brooklyn Borough Hall in Downtown Brooklyn and Kingsborough Community College in Manhattan Beach.
“Brooklynites will continue to enjoy the sounds of summer music at the Seaside Summer Concert Series 2016 at Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk and the 34th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series,” said Borough President Adams. “From beautiful Wingate Park to the shores of Coney Island, I’m proud to host these concerts that reflect the diversity and unity of One Brooklyn.”
The 2016 Martin Luther King Jr. Concert Series will continue when VP Records presents Reggae Night with Konshens and Etana on Monday, August 1st, and the Annual Gospel Night on Monday, August 8th with Erica Campbell and the Christian Cultural Center Choir; both shows begin at 7:30 PM.
The free Seaside Summer Concert Series 2016 will proceed with Latino Music by the Sea starring Victor Manuelle on Thursday, July 28th, and ABBA the Concert: A Tribute to ABBA on Monday, August 15th; both shows begin at 7:30 PM. There are also a limited number of free tickets available, through the series’ partnership with Live Nation, for A Funk Fest Celebration featuring Kool & the Gang with Morris Day and The Time, Bootsy’s Rubber Band, and Doug E. Fresh on Friday, August 12th, as well as for Rick Springfield, Night Ranger, and The Romantics on Thursday, August 18th; both shows begin at 7:00 PM.
