BROOKLYN, NY, April 22, 2014: Today, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams celebrated Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day at Borough Hall, an annual event observed both nationally and internationally for 21 years to expose children to the workplace and show them the value of education, work-life balance and their wide range of life choices. As part of Borough Hall’s own program for the children of its staff, Borough President Adams is opening the doors for the borough’s youth to meet him, take photos and hear what he does for a living.
“So many Brooklynites walk by Borough Hall every day, never going inside to explore what the building and its staff have to offer them; I intend to change that,” said Borough President Adams. “I enjoyed speaking with our borough’s daughters and sons about the opportunities Brooklyn holds, the potential they all possess as well as the importance of thinking big and working hard. Hopefully, they will connect Borough Hall and their positive memories inside its walls with their dreams for a bright future.”
The children of Borough Hall staff, in keeping with this year’s theme of “Plant a Seed, Grow a Future”, enjoyed a performance from the Brooklyn Arts Exchange, a community-based performing arts center dedicated to developing artists of all ages, from children to professionals, that will dramatize the importance of nature and growth; they will also go home with tree saplings donated by the New York Restoration Project.
