BROOKLYN, NY, February 12, 2014: Yesterday, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams and Deputy Brooklyn Borough President Diana Reyna joined the Korean Dry Cleaners Association of New York (KDCA) to donate articles of collected clothing from all five boroughs to the New York City Department of Homeless Services (DHS). DHS Assistant Commissioner Lisa Black accepted over 2,000 pieces of unclaimed clothing collected by KDCA members, which will be distributed throughout Brooklyn and New York City to help the homeless stay warm this winter. Additionally, Borough President Adams and Deputy Borough President Reyna announced that individuals who wish to donate clothing can ask their dry cleaners if they are a member of the KCDA; if so, their business can serve as a donation drop-off location.
“With the freezing temperatures outside, we are especially thankful that the Korean Dry Cleaners Association of New York and the Department of Homeless Services are partnering with Borough Hall to clothe those in need with over 2,000 articles of clothing,” said Borough President Adams. “Through events such as these, we continue to work to support our city’s homeless population. This shows how important volunteerism, and how one small donation can make a big difference for someone. We especially appreciate the contributions made by our business leaders, such as those at the Korean Dry Cleaners Association.”
