Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, who recently presented toys and a proclamation to the Three Kings Day Parade Committee to celebrate Three Kings Day, will kick off the 16th annual Three Kings Day Parade at Meeker and Graham Avenues in Williamsburg at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6 and end with a toy distribution. This year’s parade will also honor the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. All attendees are asked to bring a white balloon, in memory of those lost.
Also known as The Epiphany, Three Kings Day (Día de los Tres Reyes Magos) is a Christian celebration that commemorates the Biblical story of the Three Kings who followed the star of Bethlehem to bring gifts to the Christ child. Traditionally in some parts of the world, Three Kings Day is the gift-giving time, rather than Christmas Day. |
