BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON OSAMA BIN LADEN

“With the death of Osama Bin Laden at the hands of the United States of America, there is no more fitting end for the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks. President Obama and the brave men and women who serve our country deserve our heartfelt appreciation for what they do every day—and especially for their actions in bringing justice in the hunt for Bin Laden.

As I often say, Brooklyn is home to everyone from everywhere, living peacefully together regardless of race or religion. Brooklynites have no tolerance for the kind of hate and terror that Osama Bin Laden thrived on. So today, as we celebrate Bin Laden’s physical death let us not forget that we are waging a global war against intolerance. Ten years ago we were united in that fight by our grief and resolve. Today we must remain steadfast in our efforts to stamp out bigotry or fanaticism of any kind.”
