BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON PROPOSED MARRIAGE EQUALITY ACT

“I have always said that ‘love is love’ and we can’t hold back the future, and with Governor Cuomo’s introduction of the Marriage Equality Act and this week’s growing support in the Senate, it appears the future that our LGBT community in New York has been so passionately fighting for may be just days away. While nothing is a done deal quite yet, I am confident in Governor Cuomo’s leadership on this issue, and ask our lawmakers in Albany to do the right thing and approve marriage equality for everyone. As a longtime friend of the LGBT community who is working to establish the first Community Pride Center in Brooklyn—which has one of the largest LGBT populations in the nation—there is nothing I want to see more than the inevitable day when all New Yorkers—and all Americans—can celebrate love and pursue a life of commitment and happiness.”
