DYKER HEIGHTS

On Friday, February 18, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will join the United States Postal Service, Brooklyn Postmaster Carmen Fede, elected officials and Paul Mak, CEO/President of the Brooklyn Chinese-American Association, to unveil a new postage stamp honoring the “Year of the Rabbit.”

Art Director Ethel Kessler worked on the Lunar New Year stamp series with illustrator Kam Mak, an artist who grew up in New York City’s Chinatown and now lives in Brooklyn. Featuring a design of kumquats, which are given as gifts and eaten for luck at this time of renewed hope for the future, the stamp is the fourth of twelve in the Celebrating Lunar New Year series.
