BOROUGH PRESIDENT MARKOWITZ ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR CIVILIAN PATROL UNIT IN BROOKLYN’S 67TH PRECINCT

“Violent crime in the 67th Precinct is not a new development, nor is there any single step that can eliminate the problem. Winning the fight against violence in our communities will require that a mix of resources be deployed to target offenders when they are young, create jobs, increase access to affordable housing, improve educational opportunities and foster community involvement. Civilian Patrol Units are not a silver bullet, but they offer one more tool in the fight against violent crime. The 67th Precinct has a vibrant, tight-knit community which can be a great asset in this battle, and we hope this program can help galvanize their participation and serve as a model for other communities facing similar issues.”
