On Monday, March 9, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz hosted a press “tasting” at Brooklyn Borough Hall to officially announce the sixth annual “Dine in Brooklyn” event, featuring nearly 200 of Brooklyn’s best eateries plating up three-course menus for just $23—unchanged from last year—from March 23 through April 2.

The growing list of participating restaurants includes some of the borough’s hottest, hippest and best-reviewed establishments, as well as a growing number of kosher eateries. Diners will be able to choose culinary creations from every corner of the globe, from Italian, French, Turkish and Asian to Moroccan, South African, Caribbean and, of course, American dishes served up Brooklyn style.

“Dine in Brooklyn is more than just a great deal for foodies and “chowhounds” looking to check out our borough’s trendy eateries and beloved neighborhood standbys,” says Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, “In this economy, it’s also a delicious global tour without the cost of airfare! With options to suit every obsession, from haute cuisine to hot dogs to every authentic ethnic delicacy you can imagine, diners can celebrate Brooklyn’s gastronomic diversity and give a boost to the restaurant industry that provides so many jobs in our borough and city—it’s a culinary win-win.”

Select eateries will be cooking up new “two-fer” brunch menus this year—just $23 covers brunch for two—as well as two-for-$23 lunch and dinner menus. Offerings vary by restaurant, so patrons must call establishments in advance to verify their Dine in Brooklyn menus and reservation policies. BP Markowitz also reminds everyone to be generous and properly tip their wait staff.

Dine in Brooklyn is an initiative of the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office and Best of Brooklyn, Inc. Generous sponsors include American Express, TD Bank, Time Out New York, Empire State Development Corporation, Con Edison, Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Brooklyn Restaurant Association, New York State Restaurant Association and New York City College of Technology.

Participating in the press “tasting” and kickoff were baci & abbracci, Back to Nature (kosher), Barrio (Cabana and Playa), Bussaco, Café Buon Gusto, Chip Shop (Park Slope), Dougie’s BBQ and Grill (kosher), The Fish and Chip Shop, Green House Café, The Grocery, Kenny’s Trattoria, Kif, Korhogo 126, Lokal Mediterranean Bistro, Marco Polo Ristorante, Morton’s the Steakhouse, My Moon, Palo Santo, Pearl Room, Petit Oven, Piramide, Provence en Boite, Scopello, Sotto Voce, Tavern on Nostrand, Water Street Restaurant & Lounge, The Woodburning Pit and Yellow Hook Grille. Brooklyn Brewery was also on hand to unveil its new beer, Local 2.
