On Thursday, May 21, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Century 21 Department Stores, Assembly Members Dov Hikind, Peter Abbate, Jr., Alec Brook-Krasny and other invited guests for a ribbon cutting ceremony officially opening the Brooklyn location’s newly expanded Home Store, Shoe Store and 100,000-square-foot indoor parking garage, which is expected to improve parking accessibility around the popular 86th Street shopping corridor. BP Markowitz presented a proclamation commending Century 21 and the Gindi family for their commitment to Brooklyn.
Century 21 Department Stores opened its Brooklyn and Manhattan locations in 1962 and, despite the difficult economy, continues to expand and create jobs, adding 30,000 square feet to the Bay Ridge store and planning to open its sixth location in Rego Park, Queens this fall.
