BP MARKOWITZ, DEPUTY BP GRAHAM MARK “COVER THE UNINSURED WEEK” TO HEIGHTEN AWARENESS FOR UNINUSRED BROOKLYNITES

On Monday, March 23, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham joined community organizations for a press conference to observe “National Cover the Uninsured Week” (March 22 through March 28) and raise awareness about the programs and organizations available to help eligible Brooklynites receive the health coverage to which they are entitled.

Access to health care is a critical, quality-of-life issue for a growing number of Brooklyn residents, especially during this difficult economic crisis. Currently, more than 400,000 Brooklynites do not have health coverage.

“The time for putting off health care reform is over,” says BP Markowitz. “If not now, when? If not us, who? The patient’s condition is critical; the time to operate is now. No more political cover—it’s time to cover the uninsured.”
