On Tuesday, June 30, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Utopia Home Care President Manuel F. Martinez, Jr. in presenting a proclamation to Utopia’s 2009 “Caregiver of the Year” honoree Michelle Harris of Brooklyn, who overcame a personal tragedy 20 years ago when her mother, sister, aunt and three-year-old daughter were murdered by her brother. She used the tragedy as an inspiration to help others and study to become a home health aide. In 2007, Harris joined Utopia Home Care, the largest minority-owned company on Long Island.
Harris lives in East Flatbush and works at Utopia Home Care’s office at 26 Court Street in Downtown Brooklyn. |
