CAMP BROOKLYN, BP MARKOWITZ TO WELCOME “HAPPY CAMPERS” TO BOROUGH HALL WITH “BUG JUICE” AND COOL CAMPING KITS

11:00 AM
MONDAY, JUNE 29, 2009
BROOKLYN BOROUGH HALL PLAZA
209 JORALEMON STREET
BETWEEN COURT & ADAMS STREETS
DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN

On Monday, June 29, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will play camp counselor when a group of young campers gather at Borough Hall and enjoy “bug juice” and other camp treats to kick off Camp Brooklyn.

Thanks to the generosity of corporate sponsors and caring Brooklynites, more than 400 campers will participate in Borough President Markowitz’s Camp Brooklyn initiative, which, along with the non-profit organization SCOPE, sends Brooklyn kids to beautiful countryside camps for two weeks of outdoor fun and hands-on learning every summer.

But before they go off to camp, the lucky campers will be celebrated in style and given camp survival packs—complete with flashlights, supplies for letters home and other essentials—at this special event.
