BP MARKOWITZ COMMENDS GOVERNOR PATERSON; SAYS IT IS TIME FOR SENATE TO

“I myself served in the New York State Senate for 23 years, and never did I believe that a member of my party would commit such an outrageous act of hypocrisy to derail the majority that the Democrats waited 43 long years to attain. Today I applaud the Governor for insisting that the needs of the residents of New York State, New York City and our beloved borough of Brooklyn be put before power and politics—and I fully agree with him that a special session is in order. In this trying time, our future depends on legislation moving through the legislature. It is time to go to work—to accept the honorable agreement the Democrats have proposed and move forward—and it all depends on the State Senators, who I am confident will all return to work today by 3:00pm to do the job the voters and taxpayers pay all our public officials to do. Bravo, Governor Paterson.”
