On Thursday, September 4, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) Commissioner Joseph Bruno and Edward Kane, Chief Administrative Officer of the American Red Cross of Greater New York, to help volunteers distribute 200 emergency “Go Bags” to the public outside Borough Hall as part of the five-borough observance of National Preparedness Month, a nationwide campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to promote emergency preparedness and encourage volunteerism.
