BP MARKOWITZ TO HOST ANNUAL CELEBRACIÓN DE LATINO HERITAGE
AT BOROUGH HALL

On Wednesday, October 22, Brooklyn Borough PresidentEl Presidente del Condado de BrooklynMarty Markowitz will host Borough Hall’s annual Latino Heritage celebration. Honorees this year are Raymond Figueroa, executive director, Turning Point; Maria Contreras-Collier, head start director, Cypress Hills Child Care Corporation; Coalition for Hispanic Family Services; and a Lifetime Merit award to Julio Barillas Lechuga, one of the original founders of the Guatemalan Soccer League in Red Hook.

Borough President Markowitz will also be joined by Master of Ceremonies, Assembly Member Felix Ortiz, Special Assistant to the Borough President Yvonne Graham, and Dionicio “Don” Perez, VP, Corporate Real Estate, JP Morgan Chase.

The evening’s events will be a celebration of the many faces of Brooklyn’s Latino community, featuring music from Willie Villegas y Entre Amigos and food representative of many nations. One out of every five Brooklynites can trace their roots to a Spanish-speaking country, and Borough President Markowitz is proud to celebrate the contributions of this vibrant community.
