On Wednesday, May 7, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Kingsborough Community College will host an exclusive screening of Fading to Zero, a feature length documentary showcasing the life and work of Brooklyn Poet Laureate Ken Siegelman. Stars of Fading to Zero scheduled to attend the special viewing include Billy Drago (The Untouchables, Charmed, The Hills Have Eyes, Delta Force 2), Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3, Painkiller Jane, Pensacola) and Danielle Agnello (Lime Salted Love).

“Ken Siegelman’s powerful poetry deserves to be known and read in every home, in every classroom, in every country of the world,” says Silvana Gallardo, who directed the docudrama produced by filmmaking partner John Gavigan and Camellia South LLC. “I feel the world, especially now, needs the hard, yet compassionate clarity his imagery provides,” Gallardo adds.

Fading to Zero incorporates candid interviews with Siegelman’s family and leading political figures, the talents of Hollywood notables, and imagery that reflects the power of his poetry.

Siegelman, in conjunction with the Brooklyn Borough President’s Office, has hosted Brooklyn Poetry Outreach, a monthly gathering at Barnes & Noble in Park Slope that provides local poets with an opportunity to come together and share their talents with all Brooklyn communities. He also participated in the Borough President’s student poetry project.
