BP MARKOWITZ HONORS BLACK HISTORY MONTH WITH CELEBRATION AT BOROUGH HALL

On Thursday, February 28, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Yvonne Graham, Special Assistant to the Borough President, celebrated Black History Month with a gathering at Borough Hall.

Honorees included Rev. Dr. Cheryl G. Anthony, Founder & CEO of Judah International Christian Center, Inc.; Richard E. Green, Chief Executive & President, Crown Heights Youth Collective, Inc.; Lt. Col. John Mulzak, an original Tuskegee Airman; Rodney Leon, designer of the African Burial Ground National Monument; Col. Tracey Nicholson, commanding officer at Fort Hamilton Army Base; and (posthumously) Frederick Laverpool, founder of “Braggin’ About Brooklyn” Tours.

The event also highlighted Brooklyn Tourism’s New York City Underground Railroad Destination Project with Heritage New York.
