BP MARKOWITZ, CITY COUNCIL SPEAKER QUINN TESTIFY AT RENT GUIDELINES BOARD HEARING IN BROOKLYN

On Wednesday, June 11, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined City Council Speaker Christine Quinn in testifying at the Rent Guidelines Board public hearing at the NYC College of Technology (City Tech) in Downtown Brooklyn.

The Rent Guidelines Board is holding a series of public hearings on proposed rent increases at rent-stabilized and rent-controlled properties throughout New York City.

“Let’s face it—in 2008, the residents paying $2,000 rents are not the rich,” said BP Markowitz. “Middle class and lower-income residents are caught between ‘the rent and a hard place,’ deciding between paying the rent and paying for other basic living needs. This is why I am calling for no rent hikes this year. Nada. Zero. Zilch!”
