On June 3, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Mayor Bloomberg and other elected officials at City Hall for the signing of a bill establishing the Park Slope Fifth Avenue Business Improvement District (BID).

The new BID will serve approximately 900 businesses within the boundaries of 5th Avenue from Dean Street to 18th Street. The Park Slope Fifth Avenue BID will provide maintenance and sanitation services, security services, marketing and promotion of local businesses, holiday lighting, economic development, beautification and landscaping.
