BP MARKOWITZ WELCOMES ALVIN AILEY AMERICAN DANCE THEATER BACK TO BAM FOR FIRST TIME IN THREE DECADES

On Tuesday, June 3, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz presented citations and proclamations to Judith Jamison, Artistic Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and Linda Shelton, Executive Director of The Joyce Theater, to celebrate the return of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater to the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) for the first time in three decades. Performers from Alvin Ailey were also on hand for the press kickoff in Borough Hall Plaza.

The Joyce Theater will present the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater at the Howard Gilman Opera House from June 3rd through the 8th—performing “Classic Ailey” and “Best Of” programs in this special 50th anniversary spring season. See attached press release for more details.
