On Tuesday, February 12 and Wednesday, February 13, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Best of Brooklyn, Inc. celebrated the Chinese New Year at Pacificana Restaurant in Brooklyn’s Chinatown – Sunset Park.

Honorees at the Tuesday night gathering were Richard P. Kuo of Homecrest Community Services; Mo Vaughn of Omni New York, LLC and former New York Mets slugger; Brooklyn’s “Power Couple” Michael and Ella Weiss; and Marvin Eisenstadt of Cumberland Packing (celebrating 50th Anniversary of “Sweet ’N Low”). Honored on Wednesday evening were Norm Brodsky of CitiStorage and columnist for Inc. Magazine; Steve Cohen of the Brooklyn Cyclones; and Marie Purnell of the Starrett City Tenants Association.

Proceeds from the two evenings of events will benefit Camp Brooklyn, a Best of Brooklyn program that provides a free summer sleep away camp experience for Brooklyn youth of low income families.
