BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON BROOKLYN HEIGHTS MONTESSORI SCHOOL BOARD VOTE ON LITTLE ROOM PROGRAM

“I’m gratified that the Brooklyn Heights Montessori School board of trustees has voted to maintain the Little Room in its current location through August 2010. I urged in my letter of November 12 to the board that the school either maintain this publicly-funded program or vigorously aid in its transition to a suitable new host location.

This award-winning program deserves a permanent home in Brooklyn, and Brooklyn families deserve this option for children who need it. I appreciate the school’s commitment to finding a new home for the Little Room, and of course, my office will continue to monitor the situation.”
