On October 26, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined the YMCA of Greater New York in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new aquatics center at the Prospect Park YMCA.
“I am thrilled to have been able to support the Prospect Park YMCA’s new Community Aquatics Center, which will keep thousands of Brooklynites swimming and backstroking their way to a long and healthy life in Brooklyn,” said BP Markowitz. “Replacing the old pool with a new one that is both larger and accessible to those with disabilities just proves once again that when it comes to accessibility, fitness and fun, ‘Y’ stands for ‘Yes.’”
The $6 million aquatics center will replace the existing pool, which opened in 1927.
