“DINE IN BROOKLYN” RESTAURANT WEEK KICKS OFF TODAY

Three courses for $21.12 in “The Hip Zip for Restaurants,” March 19-30.

Beginning Monday, March 19, through Friday, March, 30, New Yorkers can taste the excitement at the fourth annual “Dine in Brooklyn” Restaurant Week. Presented by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Brooklyn Tourism, Restaurant Week features nearly 200 eateries offering three-course lunches and dinners for $21.12, an unrivaled opportunity for diners from Brooklyn and beyond to experience the borough’s burgeoning and diverse culinary scene.

The $21.12 price is a reference to the borough’s zip codes, which begin with 112. (Beverages, tax, and gratuity are not included in the “Dine in Brooklyn” price.)

“Residents and visitors alike make a point of visiting Brooklyn during Restaurant Week to experience what I call a ‘foodie’s paradise,’ and I have no doubt that the fourth annual ‘Dine in Brooklyn’ will be the best yet,” said Borough President Markowitz. “This year the price is $21.12—named for ‘the hip zip for restaurants,’ where you can have the world on a plate.”

Restaurants participating this year include Bocca Lupo in Cobble Hill, acclaimed for its fabulous meatballs; Alchemy, a brand-new gastro-pub on Park Slope’s Fifth Avenue; Mazzat, a new tapas restaurant in the Columbia Waterfront District; Palo Santo, a Latin American bistro and wine bar in Park Slope; Footprints Café, a Caribbean-American fixture with locations in Canarsie and Coney Island; Williamsburg’s Bamonte’s, the oldest family-owned Italian restaurant in Brooklyn; Park Luncheonette, in Greenpoint since 1931; and Bay Ridge Middle Eastern eatery Tanoreen, the #1 restaurant in New York magazine’s 2006 “Cheap Eats” issue.

This year’s “Dine in Brooklyn” again features more than a dozen eateries offering “2-for-1” meals for $21.12, including new Fort Greene barbecue hot spot the Smoke Joint, Zipi Zape Tapas Bar in Williamsburg, and Liberty Heights Tap Room in Red Hook.

In addition, this year two “Dine in Brooklyn” cocktails developed by Empire Merchants' Charmer Sunbelt Group will be available at many participating restaurants: the “Brooklyn Gentleman,” made with Gentleman Jack rare Tennessee whiskey, equal parts of sweet and dry vermouth, and a dash of bitters; and “Sapphire in Brooklyn,” made with Bombay Sapphire Gin, tonic and lime.
