BP MARKOWITZ TO LAUNCH “TAKE YOUR MAN TO THE DOCTOR”

Free health screenings for men across Brooklyn October 16

On Monday, October 16, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will kick off his fifth annual “Take Your Man to the Doctor” week with free health screenings at Borough Hall. “Take Your Man to the Doctor” is a call to action for men of all ages, ethnicities, and economic levels to regularly visit a doctor, and for the women and men who love them to help make it happen.
From October 16 to October 22, nine participating Brooklyn hospitals, clinics, and physicians throughout Brooklyn will offer free health screenings for asthma, blood pressure, colorectal cancer, cholesterol, diabetes, dental/oral cancer, depression, glucose, glaucoma, hearing, HIV/AIDS, prostate cancer, pulmonary disease, stroke, stress, weight control/obesity and other conditions, along with important health information will be available at all participating hospitals, clinics and physician’s offices during the week of October 16 to October 22.
Borough President Markowitz and Deputy Borough President Yvonne Graham will be joined at the kickoff event by participating “Take Your Man” partners including the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene Brooklyn District Public Health Office, Continuum Health Partners, Long Island Community Hospital and Beth Israel Kings Highway Division, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, MetroPlus, SUNY Downstate Medical Center, and Central Brooklyn Medical Group.
“Nag him, drag him, cajole him, entice him just get that man to one of our free screenings,” said Borough President Markowitz. “This year more than any other, from my heart, I am urging everyone to take steps to ensure your healthy future and visit the doctor.”
Additional free health screenings will be held Wednesday October 18, at Atlantic Center mall from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday October 19, at Kings Plaza 11:00am to 3:00pm, and Sunday October 22, at Gateway Center mall 11:00am to 3:00pm.
