BP MARKOWITZ STATEMENT ON THE DEATH OF
SEARGENT YEVGENIY RYNDYCH

"Brooklyn extends its deepest condolences to the family of Sergeant Yevgeniy Ryndych, 24, who was tragically killed in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on December 6. Ryndych served two tours of duty, most recently with the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, based out of Fort Carson, Colo. Having recently moved from Brooklyn to Staten Island, he was a graduate of Lafayette High School in Bensonhurst and a decorated solider, awarded the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge of Good Conduct Medal. We mourn the passing of Sergeant Ryndych and honor the ultimate sacrifice that he has made for our nation. We grieve with his family, new fiancé and loved ones and hope they will be comforted by the prayers and thoughts of millions of Brooklynites and all New Yorkers."
