On Monday, November 21, Borough President Marty Markowitz will help give away over 950 turkeys, more than 1800 pounds of apples, 1800 pounds of collard greens, 1500 pounds of baking potatoes and 1000 pounds of sweet potatoes. From 12:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M., representatives from 90 Brooklyn community groups, including soup kitchens, senior centers, churches, and women’s shelters, will come to Borough Hall to pick up the turkeys and fresh produce. These Thanksgiving feasts will feed thousands of struggling Brooklynites.
The food has been graciously donated by Health Plus, Fulton Street Mall Assoc. and the Korean-American Brooklyn Association, New York, with additional support from FreshDirect.
