BROOKLYNITES HAVE A BALL AT BROOKLYNBEST 2005

In photo 1: Borough President Markowitz and wife Jamie kick off the borough’s first Tour de Brooklyn with the cycling team from Deno’s Wonder Wheel.

On Saturday, June 4, BrooklynBest featured a free showing of Star Wars and fireworks. On Sunday, June 5, highlights included the new Brooklyn-themed mini-golf course, fabulous fashion shows, CMJ Five-Borough Indie Battle of the Bands, author readings, photo contest, Tour de Brooklyn family bike ride and Celebrity Path honorees. This year’s BrooklynBest events took place in and around Grand Army Plaza and featured special programming with the Heart of Brooklyn – Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Public Library, and Prospect Park Zoo.

BrooklynBest was presented by Borough President Markowitz, and the Brooklyn Tourism and Visitor’s Center, with presenting sponsor KeySpan Corporation, Robert B. Catell, Chairman. Additional support provided by Astoria Federal Savings, Boar’s Head Provisions, Brooklyn Cyclones, Citibank, NYC & Co. Foundation and the City Parks Foundation.
