Brooklyn Cyclones to Host All Star Baseball Game on August 23
“Brooklyn is the perfect home for the first New York Penn League All-Star Game because we have the best sports fans in the world,” said Borough President Marty Markowitz. “The Cyclones are exciting, Keyspan Stadium is beautiful, and Brooklyn is full of character and characters who will all celebrate this All-Star Game. Brooklyn has long been known as the place where legends are made and dreams come true — on-and-off the playing field. It has been 56 years since the Brooklyn Dodgers hosted the major league All-Star Game, and we are proud to bring the all-star tradition back to Brooklyn where it belongs.”
On Friday, February 11, Borough President Markowitz, Senior Executive Vice President and COO of the Brooklyn Cyclones Jeff Wilpon, CEO of KeySpan Energy Robert Catell, Penn League President Ben Hayes and baseball legend Mookie Wilson announced that the Brooklyn Cyclones will host the first All-Star Game in the history of the New York-Penn League. This exciting event, sponsored by KeySpan Energy, will take place 7:00 p.m. on August 23 at Coney Island’s KeySpan Park. The game will be the first professional All-Star Game played in Brooklyn since 1949, when stars like Gil Hodges, Jackie Robinson and Yogi Berra graced the diamond at Ebbets Field.
All-Star Game tickets are currently available through the purchase of season tickets or mini-plans. Individual All-Star Game tickets will go on sale in late-spring. Baseball fans interested in All-Star tickets should email allstargame@brooklyncyclones.com, call 718-449-8497 or log onto the team’s website at www.brooklyncyclones.com for more information.
