On Saturday, September 18, Brooklyn Borough President
Marty Markowitz commended recently retired Boys and Girls High
School Principal Frank Mickens on his many years within the
education field, at halftime of the Boys and Girls High School
alumni day football game versus Thomas Jefferson High School.
Borough
President Markowitz presented retired Principal Frank Mickens
with a proclamation for his many years of commitment to the
education of Brooklyn’s children, proclaiming Saturday,
September 18th, 2004, “Principal Frank Mickens Retirement
Celebration Day in Brooklyn, USA.”
Frank
Mickens has been an educator for more than 30 years. In addition
to serving as Principal of Boys and Girls High School, he was
also a teacher, dean and championship coach. Frank Mickens has
been often recognized for his leadership in education, sports
and community service. At Boys and Girls High School he was
credited with changing the course of the school, and creating
a positive and progressive legacy.
