Parents and schoolchildren say there’s “something magical” about the new playground

On Friday, October 1, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Councilmember Bill de Blasio and hundreds of families in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for PS 321’s newly renovated backyard and playground. Markowitz and de Blasio then led the assembly in a “victory lap” around the new track.

The redesign of the backyard includes new play equipment, new fencing and benches. The students will enjoy the new games and activities painted on the ground, including a maze and a map of the United States. The playground also sports a brand new horizontal climbing wall.

Borough President Markowitz allocated $50,000 and Councilmember de Blasio allocated $135,000 to complete the project. The School Construction Authority oversaw the project, and hired the firm of Abel Bainnson Butz, LLP, to design the playground that was completed this summer by Interstate Contracting, Inc.
