On Wednesday, December 8, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz joined Congressman Ed Towns, NYC Council Speaker Gifford Miller, Councilmember Al Vann, Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center President and CEO Ulysses Kilgore, and the Center’s Chairman of the Board Charles Palms for the groundbreaking of the Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center.
“In today’s political and economic climate where, sadly, the number of uninsured Americans continues to climb, the center has shown that it understands that access to quality health care should never be a luxury. It is a necessity,” said Borough President Markowitz. “On behalf of Brooklyn, I thank the officers and staff of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center for your tireless hard work and dedication to creating a new state of the art medical facility that will serve 20,000 Brooklynites right here in the heart of our Borough. And with your help, we’ll keep that heart pumping healthy and strong in the days and years to come.”
The Bedford-Stuyvesant Family Health Center is a Primary Care Health facility that offers a broad range of integrative health care services, and an emphasis on disease prevention, health education and health management. It is an Article 28 facility that has grown continuously and dramatically since its incorporation in 1976.
