BOROUGH PRESIDENT MAROWITZ URGES BROOKLYNITES TO HELP WITH RELIEF EFFORTS IN SOUTHERN ASIA
“All of us are part of the world family and we have an obligation to help each other in times of crisis. Our prayers and thoughts are with the people of Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Indonesia, the Maldives, Malaysia, Somalia and others who are suffering due to the massive earthquake and tsunamis that sent devastating waves as tall as forty feet across the Indian Ocean. We are deeply saddened to hear that at least 23,000 lives have been lost and countless others are injured or missing. I encourage all Brooklynites and New Yorkers to reach out to our brothers and sisters along the coasts of southern Asia and east Africa who desperately need our help.”
-Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz
