Today, Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz honored Police Officer Anthony Ward for his heroic and extraordinary actions on Tuesday, September 2nd when he courageously halted a vicious daytime attack underway in Prospect Park and apprehended the perpetrator.

“Once again Brooklyn’s finest have saved the day,” said Borough President Markowitz. “Officer Anthony Ward has my thanks and the thanks of all Brooklynites for his courage and his decisive action last week. With police officers like him on the job in the 78th precinct, I know that our beautiful Prospect Park will remain the safe and peaceful place it should be.”
Joining Borough President Markowitz in honoring Officer Ward was Senator John Sampson; Brooklyn North Chief Joseph Fox; Ward’s commander, Deputy Inspector Edward J. Mullen; Parks & Recreation Department Brooklyn Commissioner Julius Spiegel Pauline Blake, the President of the 78th Precinct Community Council; Bernard Graham, President of the Park Slope Civic Council, and other civic and community leaders.
