Borough President Marty Markowitz and his Team Brooklyn battled Team Bronx managed by Curtis Sliwa, President and Founder of the Guardian Angels, today in a Brooklyn Stickball Challenge in Borough Hall Plaza. Team Bronx squeaked by Team Brooklyn, 2-1.
"Team Brooklyn was gracious enough to let the visitors from that outer borough claim victory today," Borough President Markowitz said. "We were certain that these Bronx bombers would bomb in Brooklyn, so we decided to take it easy on them. But, as we say here in the Brooklyn, wait until next year!"
Borough President Markowitz presented Mr. Sliwa with a Junior's Devil Food cheesecake and an Egg Cream Kit, and Sliwa reciprocated by giving him a Guardian Angels' beret. The event was organized by the Daily News.
