On December 10th, Borough President Marty Markowitz flipped the switch to light a beautiful holiday tree. The entire facade of historic Borough Hall was also decorated for the holidays. The spectacular 36-foot Balsam Fir tree was graciously donated by the Brooklyn Terminal Market Association and decorated by the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation. Toys, graciously donated by over thirty sponsors were distributed to numerous children.
There was also a wonderful performance by the Brooklyn Youth Chorus-Intermediate Division, an art exhibit entitled Brooklyn Winter Wonderland, and hot cider, eggnog and holiday sweets for all attending.
“This tremendous tree is such a beautiful compliment to our historic Borough Hall,” said Borough President Markowitz. “I want to thank the Brooklyn Terminal Market and our dedicated Parks Department for donating the tree and putting up all of the glorious decorations. The holiday spirit is alive and well all over Brooklyn, but during this festive time of the year it is also very important to remember those Brooklynites in need. Have a happy, healthy and safe holiday season.”
“We are so pleased to be a part of Borough Hall’s celebration of the holiday season,” Brooklyn Terminal Market Association President Vincent Piccione said. “The Brooklyn Terminal Market has had a long tradition of community service and this is one more great opportunity to give back to the community.”
