FRIDAY THE 13TH IS A VERY LUCKY DAY FOR MANY BROOKLYN KIDS

Best of Brooklyn Toy Drive is making for a happier holiday season

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz helped make Friday the 13th a very lucky day for a lot of kids in Brooklyn when he distributed toys to various Boys & Girls clubs, church groups and youth programs that were graciously donated by everyday Brooklynites and local businesses during Best of Brooklyn toy drives that were held all across the borough. The toys will then be distributed to needy Brooklyn children.

Toy drives were held at schools, shops, restaurants, cultural institutions and civic groups across Brooklyn including Green-wood Cemetery, Prospect Park Alliance, Sunrise Assisted Living, Sugar Hill and Two Trees Management.

“This is yet another reason why Brooklyn is the greatest place in the world!” said Borough President Markowitz. “Brooklynites are such a compassionate and generous group of people. Children throughout the borough need to know that what they are receiving is much more than just a toy. It is a message from everybody in Brooklyn that we love and care about them. These simple gestures can mean all the difference in the world.”

“The Green-Wood Cemetery is committed to partnering with members of the Brooklyn community and applauds the Borough President in his efforts in this Best of Brooklyn Toy Drive,” said Nicholas S. Pisano, Vice President, The Green-Wood Cemetery.

"Pyramid Youth Incentive has been very pleased to support the Best of Brooklyn's toy drive. Putting a smile on a child's face this holiday season is worth more than the gift itself,” said Diane John, Executive Administrator, Pyramid Youth Incentive.

The Borough President was assisted in the toy drive by the Best of Brooklyn, Inc., a not-for-profit charity with the mission to make life better for all Brooklynites by supporting culture, social services, health and education initiatives, tourism and most important, our youth.
