Camp Brooklyn Contribution Form

Sending a child to camp can provide the experience of a lifetime! It did for me. My father passed away when I was nine, leaving my mother, two younger sisters, and me to make it on our own. I was lucky because a neighbor in our Crown Heights apartment building arranged for me to go to a sleep-away camp in the mountains. I discovered, to my surprise, that there was a Milky Way. Beauty and wondrous things surrounded me. There was an abundance of grass and trees, interesting creatures, wildflowers, open spaces, and so much more to explore than the cement and asphalt that I had always known.

Today, I can look back on the invaluable life lessons I learned as a camper because of the generosity and leadership of caring adults: teamwork, loyalty, good health habits, responsibility, and respect for myself and the world around me were all part of my education at summer camp. I truly believe that summer camp saved my life, and now I am asking you to join me in making sure more Brooklyn kids get that fabulous experience. Camp Brooklyn arranged fully-paid two-week stays at sleep-away camps for almost 200 Brooklyn children last summer, and we hope to double that number next summer.
