Brooklyn Poetry Outreach Resumes

Thursday, September 27, 2007 marks the beginning of the sixth year of the collaboration between Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Barnes & Noble for
Brooklyn Poetry Outreach.

“Brooklyn Poetry Outreach provides Brooklyn poets with an opportunity come together under one prestigious roof to share their talents with all Brooklyn communities”

Founder Brooklyn Poet Laureate Ken Siegelman will once again be spotlighting Brooklyn’s finest poets in a program available free of charge at the Park Slope Barnes & Noble located at 267 Seventh Avenue.  As per tradition, the first session on September 27th will feature the poetry of our own Poet Laureate, Ken Siegelman.

In addition, poets are encouraged to sign up for the Open Mic at 6PM before the readings.

Ken Siegelman is currently the subject of a new docudrama Fading toZero based on his life and work. The full length work of the multi -talented film maker duo,  Silvana Gallardo and John Gavigan, a Camellia South Film feature documentary, has been completed. Fading to Zero captures the essence of Siegelman's work“Ken Siegelman’s powerful poetry deserves to be known and read in every home, in every classroom, in every country of the world,” says Producer Silvana Gallardo.  Brooklyn has taken the lead in recognizing Ken Siegelman’s creative genius in the use of language and poetry as a critical tool in peoples’ understanding of their place in time.  Brooklyn is fast being recognized as a universal center for the arts.  “I feel the world, especially now, needs the hard, yet compassionate, clarity his imagery provides,” Gallardo added.
