The Death of a Legend

Legends are rare, but come and go

Though there are many, few did I know

Not many legends lived to be respected

During their life, their ideas were unaccepted

After their death, their dreams were embraced

Never did they know their thoughts weren’t a waste

There is one legend, who many discuss

It speaks of a black woman who was riding a bus

Give her seat to a white man, she would not

Instead she stayed rooted to the spot

She believed in equality, that was her fight

She felt in her heart that she was right

She made a great change, and she watched it thrive

She saw the impact she had, while she was alive

Equality is promoted, and she lived to see

That many people with her did agree

She witnessed herself, the impact she had made

She saw what an important part in history she played

In textbooks and our hearts she will forever reside

For it was a sad day when Rosa Parks died
