There are thinkers who seem out-thought every time
By those who answer faster than the rest,
And take no solace when called upon in class;
Devising ways of saying the same things they’ve
heard
Just a little differently
So that teachers pass them by without a smirk,
And other children cease to laugh-
Those who take their cues from those
Who never see outside the box
Inside their sleepy texts,
And never think how engineers
Are prompted by some abstract art
Where streaks of clouds across a bay
Evoke the details of a bridge
Cherished when its built
As part of the natural landscape;
When its architectural designs
Are added on in latter chapters
Of how a bridge should look…
Many who are out-thought every time
Learn to shackle all their thoughts
Like prisoners in a life long lock up
Without a window or a tree to look at ;
Who when given pen and paper as a privilege
Have forgotten everything
Worthy of remembering.
